Welcome to Neurobiology

Faculty in the Neurobiology Section conduct research to elucidate basic principles of neural function, such as (i) how neurons function at the molecular and cellular level, (ii) how the brain is organized, (iii) how neural circuits develop, and (iv) how neural signaling subserves communication between individual neurons and encodes permanent behavioral changes triggered by experience. We conduct research at all levels: from molecular function to animal behavior, spanning the levels of genes, cells, neural networks, and whole nervous systems.
