Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests
Professor Hammond researches the biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nutrients in aqueous systems; the transport of solutes, particles, and pollutants in aqueous environments; and studies of diagenesis in sediments. He is currently researching the Equatorial Pacific, the California Borderland, San Francisco Bay, the Adriatic Sea, Mono Lake, and several geothermal systems.
