In my opinion, the three best things about Los Angeles are: the combination of food, cultural opportunities, and entertainment venues are distinct--I often find myself saying, "I'm so lucky that I got to do that." 

A perfect day would include: drinking overpriced coffee while discussing the cultural merits of Six Feet Under, Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, or Gossip Girl.

My favorite dessert is: currently, I am obsessed with Nickel Diner's maple-bacon doughnuts but my all-time favorite dessert is the Marchesa Casati truffles from Vosges (black sea salt and caramel in 85% dark chocolate topped with pearl dust).

My favorite movie is: Battle Royale was the first movie that allowed me to understand how cinema can comment on society in both subtle and direct ways.

One of my favorite books is: Although I dearly love the works of Emily Dickinson (I know it's not a book), "The Woman Warrior" by Maxine Hong Kingston is the first book that made me realize the power of one's voice.
