Program Cost

USC tuition is currently $1299 per unit. The cost to complete the 28-unit Master's degree program in East Asian Area Studies is therefore $36,372 for tuition only. There are additional fees charged to students each term for student programs, health services and health insurance. To view the estimated USC cost of attendance, please visit the USC Financial Aid Office website.

While financial aid for Master's degree candidates at USC is generally very limited, EASC does offer a limited number of fellowships and teaching assistantships. Teaching assistantships, subject to university approval each year, are open to both international and domestic students. Teaching assistantships involve 10-20 hours per week of assistant teaching duties and they provide both tuition assistance and a living stipend. For more information on teaching assistantships, please contact Grace Ryu, EASC Associate Director, at gryu@usc.edu or by phone at 213-740-2991. For more information on available fellowships, please see the "Funding" link above.

Please note: If you are dependent on financial aid to study at USC, you should consider applying to relevant doctoral programs as well as to the Master's Degree program in East Asian Area Studies. Graduate program applicants, especially those with exceptional academic records and test results, have a much better chance of receiving financial support through a doctoral program.
