Organizations
English Department Undergraduate Organization
The Association of English Majors is an organization that the English department encourages but depends on student initiative to organize. Please check with the director of undergraduate studies if you are interested in activating this organization or contributing to its programs. In past years the Association of English Majors has sponsored readings; conversations with faculty members about their teaching philosophies and current research work, careers available to English majors, the nature of graduate study and how to apply to Ph.D. programs; and forums on other issues and concerns of interest to undergraduate English majors.

The Association of English Graduate Students
The Association of English Graduate Students (AEGS) committee represents the interests of graduate students in the English department at the University of Southern California. Members of AEGS serve as liaisons to faculty, as well as to the larger university community at Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) meetings and events. The AEGS committee is composed of five to seven members, who volunteer for service and/or are nominated by their peers each year.
AEGS’s major event is its annual conference, which will be held this year on March 2-3, 2007. In addition to the conference, AEGS brings faculty and graduate students together during a series of panels the committee organizes on various professional and academic topics. AEGS also sponsors professional development workshops and social gatherings throughout the academic year.
AEGS supports communication among the graduate students through a newsletter and listserv. AEGS also maintains a website (http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/english/aegs/), which serves as a platform for conference information and general resources for the graduate student community.
