Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests
Professor Dane studies medieval literature, bibliography and the history of printing. His recent books include, Who is Buried in Chaucer's Tomb? (1998); The Myth of Print Culture (2003); Abstractions of Evidence in the Study of Early Books and Manuscripts (2009). His work is published in numerous journals, including the Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America, Studies in Bibliography, The Library, Huntington Library Quarterly and The Book Collector.
