New Courses Developed

  • Editing For Writers, English Department, A course is designed for writers in all genres—fiction, poetry, journalism, expository, etc. The goal of this course is to harness the skills students already have to quantify and qualify the job of an editor in order to improve their own writing and help them become better analysts of what makes an effective piece of writing. Along with practical guidance on how to implement the various levels of editing—shaping and sculpting, cutting and condensing, copyediting and fact checking—we consider the role of editors in the creative process by examining their function across various genres of writing., Fall 2009
