For many years Dr Shugarman has served on the LAS Pre-Health Committee whose purpose is to assist undergraduate students who wish to enter medical or dental school to become members of the health professions.
Over the 30-plus years that this committee has existed letters from the science faculty who serve on the committee who have interviewed the students have been part of the application packet that USC sends to schools that each student has chosen to apply to.
The interview that each student has received helps them to prepare for those that they will receive when interested schools respond to their application.
One other activity that Dr Shugarman has been involved with is as Chapter Advisor for the Golden Key International Honour Society which has had a chapter on the USC campus since 1983.
Golden Key is open to Juniors and Seniors from all undergraduate majors who have a cumulative grade point average equal to or greater than 3.70
