Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests

The major thrust of Professor Thompson's research at USC is aimed at extending the control chemists have developed for molecular species to solid materials. He researches two principal areas: molecular/polymeric materials for optical studies and nanoscale materials and devices for sensing and catalytic studies. Currently, he studies the development of new light emitting device technologies for flat panel displays and general illumination, solar energy conversion using devices based on molecular and polymeric materials, nanowire and nanotube based sensors, and bioadhesives. Detailed information can be found on his personal web pages (listed above).
