Development of molecular methods to monitor nutrient and trace metal stress in situ in marine cyanobacteria; Molecular characterization of the Fe scavenging system of marine cyanobacteria and heterotrophic bacteria; secondary metabolite production (antibiotics and toxins) by marine and estuarine cyanobacteria.
