Academic Programs

Overview

The Center established the Sustainable Cities Graduate Certificate Program, and collaborated with the USC Energy Institute to establish the Energy, Technology and Society Graduate Certificate Program. Both are administered by the USC College Office of Advanced and Professional Programs. The Certificate Programs prepare doctoral students to confront, analyze and resolve the challenges posed by problems of urban sustainability and our energy futures, allowing them to transcend disciplinary boundaries and acquire a profound understanding of how collaborative, interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research on major energy and urban environmental problems should be conducted.

The Center also offers a Summer Undergraduate Fellows Program. This small, select, and intensive program provides students both from USC and other institutions from around the country with the chance to work directly with faculty, post-doctoral associates, and graduate students on Center research projects. This extremely successful program provides participants with hands-on sustainability science research experience.
