Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board, explores the ways in which California will implement landmark climate change law AB32.
Mary Nichols has devoted her entire career in public and private not-for-profit service to advocating for the environment and public health. Bringing her extensive experience from positions in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as director of the UCLA Institute for the Environment, and as secretary for California's Resources Agency, she was appointed chairman of the California Air Resources Board in July 2007.
A pioneer in environmental law, Nichols will discuss plans to implement California's landmark climate change legislation, work with the board to curb diesel pollution in ports, and renew efforts to pass regulations that will ultimately provide cleaner air for Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley.
The lecture is free and open to the public. It begins at 1 p.m. at the Davidson Conference Centers Club Room on the University Park Campus. Parking is available in Structure D through Gate 4.
Co-sponsored by the USC Energy Institute, Center for Sustainable Cities, the USC Environmental Leadership Council, and the USC Wrigley Institute.
