  • Dr. Michael Overcash, Professor of Chemical Engineering, North Carolina State University. Life Cycles and Industrial Ecology in Complex Urban Industrial Systems.

    The quantifications of complex systems typically envisioned for industrial ecology has led to a better understanding of how products can flow in an end-of-life phase. Life cycle is a tool for such quantification. In addition, it is necessary to explore the extent of reuse in the industrial sectors as a means to understand current behavior and viable economics. This seminar will provide examples of both fields of research.

Fall 2002

October 25 at 1pm - SGM 101

  • Dr. V.L. Holland and Dr. Raul Cano of California Polytechnic University-San Luis Obispo will present results of their collaborative efforts to remediate hyrdocarbon contaminated groundwater through the restoration of a native dune plant community. This research at the Guadaloupe dunes in Central California combines phytoremediation with ecosystem restoration to produce what the presenters call "ecoremediation."
