Santa Monica Mountains National Recreational Area: Recreational Trail Use

Report to the National Park Service, March 2003

The Santa Monica Mountains features the largest urban National Park in the nation. Its long contiguous protected habitat is key to maintaining wildlife diversity in the region. The National Park Service asked the Center to conduct a survey of the activities, attitudes, and social backgrounds of trail users in the Park in order to better manage the park and plan for expansion.

Read the results of this major study carried out by Center faculty, Doctoral fellows, and undergraduate Summer Fellows, which have just been released.
