We have recently embarked on a sweeping series of changes to transform the USC Geography Department into a Spatial Science Program that can help build excellence in research, teaching and outreach across the entire university -- this effort stretches from the fundamental spatial sciences (i.e. parts of computer science, geography and psychology) to those that can usefully modify and apply the geospatial technologies and underlying scientific concepts (e.g. earth science, epidemiology, history, landscape architecture and planning, among others). The following links will give you a sense of both the past and future -- the Geography@USC pages on the Spatial Science website tell the story of the Geography Department over the past 70 years and the People pages on the same website indicate the faculty and staff at USC who are helping to build and shape and Spatial Science Program. Clicking on the names of the three research centers that were connected with the Geography Department -- the Center for Sustainable Cities (CSC), GIS Research Laboratory and the Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) -- will get you caught up with the latest news and activities associated with these enterprises.
