I am the dedicated Information Technology person for the GIS Research Laboratory. I joined the Trojan team in 2005 and have been a proud member ever sense. The greatest benefits about working for USC is the ability to pursue my degree at a world class institution. The diversity of people and cultures I work with every day is also a big plus.

Welcome to the Department of Geography website, my name is Billie Shotlow. In 1984, I joined the University of Southern California staff and for the past ten years I have been the Office Manager in the Department of Geography. The office is the hub of the department and my task is to ensure that this busy and vibrant place runs efficiently. The department has a diverse student body and attracts graduate students from all over the world who come to study a range of topics and gain firsthand experience of life in Los Angeles. As the front office is the first contact that most people have with the department, there is never a dull day in Kaprielian Hall and personally, I wouldn't have it any other way. I get great pleasure assisting faculty and students and also acting in a liaison role in helping the department collaborate with the larger USC family, be it administrative or related to other departments on campus. As you can tell (from all of the above) life in the USC Geography Department is pretty hectic, often times serious, but also great fun. The latter is particularly true at the holiday season when we have our annual get-together and also every August when we gather for our "Welcome Back Picnic," for new and returning graduate students. Besides the department, my other great passions in life are entertaining, gardening, cooking, reading a variety of novels and relaxing with my family at home.
