GIS Research Laboratory
The GIS Research Lab develops new analytic tools, builds GIS-based urban and environmental modeling applications, conducts spatial analysis, and produces customized maps and related information products. The lab supports numerous UNIX workstations and Windows2000 personal computers with several peripherals (digitizers, scanners, plotters, printers, etc.) and makes extensive use of the ESRI family of GIS software products. It is staffed by a Director (Wilson), a Senior GIS Programmer / Analyst (Ryan), and a Project Coordinator (Phelan). Graduate and undergraduate research assistants help out as needed.
Center for Sustainable Cities
Los Angeles offers an ideal laboratory for developing and implementing education, outreach and training on urban sustainability. The region's diverse ethnic and cultural demographics, its strong manufacturing base, and the numerous local jurisdictions in the region offer many opportunities to provide education and training to organizations and groups interested in new approaches to enhancing the region's economic, social, and environmental well-being.

Southern California Studies Center (SC2)
The Southern California Studies Center (SC2) is a nonpartisan, multidisciplinary research and educational organization that mobilizes the intellectual resources of the University of Southern California to illuminate the distinctive characteristics and dynamics of Southern California, and to foster intramural and extramural cooperation in confronting the challenges and opportunities facing the region.
