Programs of Study
Students completing a degree in kinesiology (B.S. Kinesiology; B.A. Human Performance; Minor Kinesiology) are expected to acquire the ability and skills to understand physiological and biomechanical principles underlying function, to interpret movement and performance data from laboratory experiments, and to communicate the outcome of an investigation either individually or in a group and assess its contribution to the body of knowledge in kinesiology. These skills provide an excellent foundation for a clinical or research career in health-related fields. To accomplish this, our program provides:
- State of the art lab experiences with a focus on learner-centered, hands-on experiences using the latest web and computer technology;
- Opportunities for the transfer of basic knowledge in physiology, biochemistry and biomechanics into applied or real life situations;
- Opportunities for international experience via study abroad programs and;
- Opportunities for high-level research in several areas, including the regulation of fat use in health and disease, the regulation of blood glucose levels in Type 1 diabetes, the mechanics and neural control of movement, and the biochemical basis of exercise performance.
