Levan Institute Awards and Grants

Apply for College Grants

Grants of up to $350 are available to students, faculty, and staff across the College who need funds for activities that coincide with the Levan Institute's mission. Student groups and student-focused projects are given a strong first priority, as are collaborative efforts across departments and schools. Speakers, workshops, student group activities—if you write it up, we'll consider it. Awarded on a rolling basis. Complete an Application.

Levan Institute Undergraduate Fellows

Coming, five (5) pre-med students and five (5) pre-law students will be selected to participate in a year-long substantive internship which will include:

  • a $1000 stipend for a community service assignment through the JEP (Joint Education Project)
  • participation in Levan-Sponsored leadership and ethics training
  • a formal paper that discusses/reflects on the meaning of the student's experience and understanding of the ethics of medicine or law

Levan Internship Funds

In 2010 Five (5) Summer Internship Grants of $1000 each will be awarded to College undergraduate and graduate students who have accepted or created a summer unpaid internship that supports the Levan Institute mission. Call for Applications forthcoming. Awardees commit to writing a short report on their internship experience.

Faculty Curriculum Development Grants

Several faculty grants of $1000 each will be awarded to develop new courses with an ethics component, or augment existing courses by adding new ethical questions and problems. Contact the Levan Institute at usclevan@usc.edu for more information.

Levan Student Paper Awards

Deadline: April 22, 2010. Awards $500. Send us your paper on an ethical question or topic regardless of discipline. Selected by members of the Levan Institute Advisory Board.
