Application Process
Applications should be submitted by February 1. Applicants who apply after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis and admitted as space permits. As there are a limited number of spots available in the program, it is to the applicant's advantage to apply by this deadline. An option to allow students to pursue the degree on a part-time basis is under consideration, and those who wish to be kept informed of this possibility should make their interest known in an email to MHB@college.usc.edu.
Prospective students must submit the Academic Information form, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, a one page resume, and copies of all transcripts. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted at this stage of the application process. Details with respect to the letters of recommendation and personal statement are described below. Applications will not be considered complete until these materials have been received.
Letters of Recommendation: At least one recommendation should be from an academic professor. It is strongly recommended that the second letter be from someone who can assess the student's potential success in a non-academic world. Each should come as a Word or pdf attachement that is sent directly by the person making the recommendation.
Personal Statement: The personal statement should describe the career options that you believe to be desirable and attainable within the next five years, and explain how your background and skills have made this a suitable choice. The statement should be approximately 400-500 words.
All documents should be submitted by email to MHB@college.usc.edu.
Qualified applicants who have applied by February 1 will be notified of selection for an interview by the end of March. Interviewees will be notified of acceptance or placement on a waiting list by mid-May. Finally, admitted students will be required to submit their application information to Graduate Admissions for verification. Admission is contingent upon proof of continued satisfactory academic performance and payment of a nonrefundable application fee.
