Peace Games Programs

Peace Games is a school-wide violence prevention program based on the underlying philosophy that all children have the right to attend safe schools and live in safe communities, as well as the inherent responsibility to make sure that their behavior contributes to this safety. Rather than waiting for and then reacting to violent incidents, Peace Games invests resources in preparing children to be proactive peacemakers. Using structured interactive games and community service projects, Peace Games gives students a common language for engaging in pro-social interactions and concrete techniques for cooperating, communicating and resolving conflicts in a positive manner. In addition to participating in in-class activities, students engage in their own Peace Games-coordinated service-learning projects, focused on neighborhood beautification, school safety, and community awareness.

USC students participate in the program by teaching the Peace Games curriculum to elementary school children and by assisting them with their community service-learning projects. Many International Relations students receive course credit for their work with Peace Games and all students are welcome to participate in the program as a volunteer.
