UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES
Undergraduate Psychology Resource Handbook can be found here
The Psychology department at the University of Southern California provides students with access to an exciting range of research and classroom experiences.
Our faculty currently investigate topics related to aggression, prejudice, attitude change, social relationships, psychological disorders, psychotherapy, personality, motivation, cognitive and social development, language acquisition, measurement and assessment, cognitive processes, memory, learning, perception, sensation, behavior genetics, biological bases of behavior, and neuroscience.
Up to 200 undergraduate and graduate students are actively participating in research endeavors with our faculty each semester, either as volunteers, for academic credit, or for pay. The department offers two undergraduate majors and two minors: the B.A. in Psychology, B.A. in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology, Minor in Psychology, and Minor in Psychology and Law.
The undergraduate major programs are well rounded and flexible, and provide opportunity for students to pursue a variety of academic and professional interests, such as medicine, law, and business. Students who take advantage of the research opportunities and who excel academically are in an excellent position for graduate school consideration at major research universities.
The majority of the approximately 850 undergraduate majors are pursuing a double major, a second bachelor degree, or a minor in addition to the Psychology major. Most students are able to accomplish this within four years.
Other departmental opportunities at the undergraduate level include the honors research program, the Psi Chi Honor Society, and many of our majors participate in one of the university’s overseas studies programs, in internships, in varsity athletics, or in a wealth of campus organizations.
