USC Catalina Summer Course: Oceanography of the Southern California Bight

Oceanography of the Southern California Bight is a three-week summer program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors offered by the Sea Education Association of Woods Hole, Massachusetts and the USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies. The course is focused on marine environments off the California coast. Half of the course is based at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island where students investigate near-shore communities of plants and animals in a protected marine refuge. The other half of the course is aboard the sailing vessel SSV Robert C. Seamans, the newest tall ship in the fleet of the Sea Education Association.
