Elderhostel
The USC Wrigley Institute hosts four- and five-day Elderhostel programs at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island. Elderhostel is a non-profit educational organization that offers college level academic programs at educational institutions around the world. USC has hosted these programs on Catalina Island since 1982, and it is one of the earliest Elderhostel providers in the state of California.

Elderhostel, Inc. is now known as Exploritas, and the Elderhostel / Exploritas programs on Catalina Island focus on natural science and environmental studies.
Elderhostel / Exploritas participants usually do not need any specific educational background to enroll in a course. The courses are not offered for credit and do not require homework or exams. The programs are offered at different times during the year, you can check the schedule below for upcoming courses.

This program is not yet open for registration, but you can check the Elderhostel / Exploritas website to enter your email address for information when program dates are scheduled.
Santa Catalina: Land and Sea
Four-day programs start on January 22, February 5 and June 11, 2010.
Catalina Island: The Land and the Sea
Five-day programs start on January 11, February 22 and March 8, 2010.
The Elderhostel / Exploritas courses on Catalina Island cost between $496 and $596, and the fees cover classes, materials, field trips, room and board, and a trip to Catalina Island's seaside tourist community, Avalon.
