The USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies supports marine and environmental science and education at the University of Southern California. The institute has offices on the USC campus in Los Angeles and manages the USC research laboratories and conference facilities on Catalina Island. Transportation to the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island
The USC Wrigley Institute provides regular transportation between the mainland and the USC facilities on Catalina Island near Two Harbors. The USC vessel Zephyrus carries up to 20 passengers from San Pedro to Catalina Island, Monday through Thursday. Check here for information on GeoBiology 2010: An International Training course in a Rapidly Evolving Field. The course runs from June 20 to July 20 and includes stops at Yellowstone National Park, the Colorado School of Mines and the USC campus on Catalina Island.

Coast Guard Approval for Connection to USC Catalina Campus

Travel to the USC campus on Catalina Island became much easier when the U.S. Coast Guard approved passenger travel on a boat owned by USC and operated by the USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies. The Zephyrus is 45 feet long and is approved for up to 20 passengers and two crew members. Its primary service will be daily roundtrips between its homeport in San Pedro and the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island near Two Harbors. - The Machine That Goes Ping
March 2009Faculty with the USC Wrigley Institute operate a high-speed genome sequencer with mind-boggling capabilities. The device is the 454 Life Sciences DNA sequencer, located at the Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island.
